Parachutes

Slowly floating in the atmosphere

Among the heavens

Gaining height from the ground, I flee

The earth is not under my feet

And still, I search for thee

The clouds surround me, embracing my flailing body

My broken spirit has no more fight to give

And still, I search for thee

I fear that, when my dreams and my life are already beyond me,

And my parachute remains to wander meekly

Your memory of me fades into oblivion

When I still remain, searching for thee
